at Los Osos Oak Groves

she is a fallen star
an angel earthed
the universal force embodied
- radiant -
light shining between
soft velvet shadows
mysterious
she is.
On a summer evening we met, by an old oak grove, to share space for a few precious days.
Wandering and a little lost, we walked under trailing moss and bearded forests, pointing out gnarled faces in the bark, and following fairy paths that lead round-about-and-nowhere.
These were days filled with laughter, strawberries soaked in champagne, whispers in the movie theatre, stolen lemons, and silent conversations with her green-eyed black cat.
These were nights of cosy companionship, snuggled into the nest of our van, legs tangled, her hands gently weaving my hair up into cotton cloth strips.
We spoke of and experienced a subtle magic that exists upon the edges of our feeling bodies, but I believe also in a magic that lives within the most ordinary of things… it is all around us, woven between us like sparkling threads, connecting me to you. These moments spent with the goddesses I meet and photograph are pure magic!
The Vampire Reprised
nox, nacht, night
an inky darkness,
to swaddle and huddle the light
round circle, deep cycle
there is a motion to everything
a root to everything
a place for everything
and what of you, then?

you know that there is
no creation without destruction
no brimming life without void
no weaving without snipping
…
and it is you who would
come to take that which is no longer needed
~ to swallow clots, to bring movement again
to life force that is stuck.

Charis has a natural way of looking at everything with love - she reminds me to continually renew my compassion for all creatures + all beings and energies, even those we fear…
… Besides, when two mystics come together, both carrying some serious vampire stories, you best believe they will incorporate those energues and experiences into a photoshoot!
